Marked Soul Guardians Book 1 Kim Richardson Books Reviews

I found this series and thought my 14 year old would enjoy these books and boy was I ever right, she loves them and when she gets into reading something that is interesting to her, she reads and loses herself into the book. She started this series about 5 days ago and is already on the last book, her kindle is rarely put down. I love to watch her read and to know that I'm aiding her love of reading to me its was well worth the cost of her Fire HD. Now that I've been informed that she is well on her way to having the last book of this series finished I guess I'm once again on the hunt for more books.
This is a great series and I recommend it, anything that's well written and sucks the attention from a 14 year old teenage girl to were she would rather read instead of getting on the internet or Skype with her friends is definitely worth it in my book. Absolutely love this series for helping to get my daughter spellbound.
This was not a romance, as it was listed. The author spent absolutely no time actually devoted to any development of feelings between the characters and then, BAM! We kissed and I'm in love!

Kara hates David, thinks he's silly and arrogant, but cute. But she never expresses any actual desire for him and there are no hints from him that he likes her. She has a mild case of jealousy when he talked to a male angel, when another female was mentioned and tingles every time he looked at her. But then, she had tingles when anyone looked at her.

The love she claimed to have came from nothing and confused the absolute crap out of me. It would have been a better book had the author either decided to leave out the non-existent romance or develop the relationship. In fact the development of ANY relationship in the book would have made it better.

There were so many confusing things, weird things, and completely unexplained things going on in this book, I couldn't stand it. The author had many elements (get it?) of a good book, but the execution was sub par.

For instance (spoilers below)

Benson Pointless character. He and David hate each other but give no reason, it doesn't tie into the story in any way, and it goes nowhere. This was inane filler.

Kara's Mom Nothing is explained about her, how she became how she was. There was no personalization. No real look at her life with her child. She was a nutty cardboard cutout with no development whatsoever.

Kara's secret How did she go through the whole angel process without anyone noticing what she was? How was hiding on Earth safer for her, but not for others?

David No sense of what he feels, where he comes from, if he is even a good person, he is also cardboard. Just someone for her to pass time with. How did he miss the demon marking her if he was there at her death? He states that Benson hates him for breaking rules and getting another angel killed, however, he then goes and does THE EXACT SAME THING WITH KARA that got Sarah (how close are those names) killed. At which point, they almost get killed. And then, acts like Kara betrayed HIM. Can you hear the eye roll?

Kara Why is she tingling over everything? It was annoying. She tingles so much, you couldn't tell what she was supposed to be feeling.

What's up with the rude monkeys? The hair thing is gross, not funny.

Why is everyone so needlessly intense, petty, and mean? Aren't these supposed to be angels?

The descriptions of places and people were nice and much more developed than any of the characters.

This was not a complete book. Every single answer is being held hostage for the other books in the series and you get no closure of any of the issues. It makes you feel like the other books in the series will be just as incomplete and who wants to read all that to drag it out?

Each book in a series is supposed to be a part of a puzzle. Yes, you won't get the whole picture until you're finished, but you should have a better view into the completed product with each piece. This just left me pissed off and literarily unfufilled.

I will not be reading anymore of this series or the author. The author was less than honest about the content of the book as it IS NOT a romance. And after that deception, the author is clearly making a money grab by extending incomplete stories instead of giving them some sort of completion. I am exceedingly thrilled that this was free.

Two stars for place and people descriptions and for having the guts to publish this.
I love this book it's an awesome read. It was really hard for me to take a break and put it down. The author Kim Richardson did a wonderful job creating a story full a good and evil. I agree with some of the other reviews. The beginning took off a little fast. I would have really loved to find out more about Kara before she dies, but you discover more facts about her as the book continues. I also agree that this book isn't for older teens, but for young teens. This book is very very very well written exept for the beginning, but there's nothing wrong with the way the author wrote it, she might have wanted you to get to know Kara as a GA (guardian angle) than a normal teenage girl. After all this book is mainly about her life as a GA.
I love the relationship between Kara and David. Kara is a very insecure teen and David is very cocky, but it seems he makes her feel important. Except for after he finds out Kara is Marked. Then he runs away from her because he thinks she is a traitor, and that she is working for Asmodeus. The demon lord. I loved this book from start to finish it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Kim is a great author. I want to read all of the books in the Soul Guardian Series. Although I have a bad habit of reading the book in one sitting, so my dad told me I should probably read a chapter or two the take a break. So I did...for most of the book that is.
Overall I LOVED this book. I highly recommend it for kids around the ages 12-14 after that the book might seem a little childish. I loved it though.
